3 Rules to Follow If You Want to WIN
In business, sports, and life, the rules are the same...
📚 Hey, good evening!
THIS right here is the attitude you need to have if you want to win. No matter what game you’re playing.
Sports, Business, Life…
I talk all the time about the similarities between each, what you can learn from each, and the skills that transfer over between each.
THIS is how winners think, and not just coaches either:
“If you want to coach, you have three rules to follow to win.
One, surround yourself with people who can’t live without winning - who hate losing.
Two, be able to recognize winners. Not just talent or ability. Anybody can identify that - a will to win.
Three, plan for everything. Have a plan for practice, a plan for the game, a plan for being behind 20 to 0 at the half with your quarterback hurt and the phones dead, with it raining cats and dogs and no rain gear because the equipment man left it at home. Oh, and when that is over, fire the equipment man.”
One, you must violently hate losing. If you’re actually okay with losing, you’re not going to fight as hard to win as someone who physically can’t stand it.
Two, surround yourself with other ‘A’ players - people who love to win just as much as you do.
Not necessarily jerks (I’m not at all advocating being a ‘sore loser’), but exactly what I said. ‘A’ players. People who win, consistently, and have developed a taste for it.
Three, like Coach Bryant says above, have a plan for everything.
I’m going to be sharing more of my self-discipline system over the next few weeks and months, but you’ll see that I have plans, action steps, and strategies leading me to everything I want out of life.
And then I pursue them mercilessly.
As one of my favorite motivational speakers says, “It’s not over until I win!”
Sounds way cooler when Les Brown says it in front of a crowd of thousands, but you get the idea.
Also, the quote above is one I just read in the book, No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs, by Dan S. Kennedy, which I’ll be sharing my COMPLETE book notes from on Friday.
I’m not finished typing them up yet, but I have 12+ pages of notes/insights/takeaways as of right now that I want to share with you.
There are two more of Dan’s books that I’ve read back-to-back in the last few days as well, and you can be damn sure that I’ll be telling you about them soon.
Why?
Because I want you to win.
And I’m here to help make that happen. As always, it’s now or never.
All the best,
Matt Karamazov
