Should You Announce Your Goals to the World?

đź“š Hey, good morning! Time to win.

Yesterday, I committed to achieving quite a bit this month.

I stated publicly in this newsletter that I was going after February HARD, and I made some pretty bold claims about what I was going to be able to accomplish and to publish, etc.

And you know what?

It was the best thing I could have done.

Just having that public accountability, stating in no uncertain terms what I was going to do, and by when?

Oh man, that shit is POWERFUL.

Today I went after my work with f***ing VENGEANCE, because I could not…COULD NOT let you guys down.

There are nearly 500 people subscribed to The Competitive Advantage newsletter.

Not as many as the 3,400+ on The Reading Life, or my 100K on Instagram, but that’s 500 people who are going to hold me accountable to what the f*** I said I was going to do.

If you can get that kind of support and accountability in your OWN life, I highly…HIGHLY recommend it.

Recruit whomever you can.

Family members. Friends. Coworkers. People you see sometimes at the gym. Strangers on the internet. Just find them and then tell them what you’re committing to doing/achieving.

Now, honestly, I don’t think everyone should do this.

It’s true that once some people announce their goals, they do lose a bit of their motivation to achieve them.

It’s just another one of those “disagreements” between people in the personal development industry.

I see the validity of both sides, so I think it comes down to a personal decision.

For me? Having this public accountability is huge. I think it could work for you, and I also think you’re smart enough to figure it out for yourself.

But regardless of which one you choose - announcing your goals or keeping them to yourself - the real work remains to be done. You still have to move, and nobody who’s watching from the sidelines is going to be able to do it for you.

But that’s it for today.

As always, at the bottom of this email I’ll lay out everything I did today to move closer to my Ultimate Vision. This is to keep me accountable and to show you that I’m working as hard as I’m encouraging you to work…

I credit the majority of my success and happiness in life to my consistent, unbreakable habit of reading and applying great books.

To help you gain wisdom and strength from the greatest books that have stood the test of time (and use the knowledge contained therein to shape your life according to the way you want to live it), I created the Stairway to Wisdom, my library of expert book breakdowns.

When you become a member of the Stairway to Wisdom, you’ll gain access to more than 120+ such book breakdowns, as well as a premium weekly newsletter that some readers have described as “philosophical espresso shots for the soul.”

Whenever I publish a new breakdown, I always make it free for a couple of weeks, just so people can check it out and see if it’s something they want to begin receiving in their inbox regularly.

Here’s the latest book breakdown inside the Stairway to Wisdom, with links to become a member if that’s something you feel would benefit you:

Organized My Workflow and Systems a Bit

Alright so today wasn’t too bad. I didn’t get as much reading done as I wanted, but I made some good progress on my business goals, worked hard - I feel good.

I also had my sister visiting tonight from out West so we had a family dinner together. Lobster! My favorite.

Now, let’s do it all again tomorrow! Minus the lobster of course.

So until next time…happy reading!

All the best,

Matt Karamazov
