“What do you really want from your business? What is your ideal situation? How many hours do you want to work? Where are you headed? What is true success for you? And what does your ideal life and lifestyle look like? You don’t get in the car until you know where you’re going…and you shouldn’t be working so hard driving your business without a clear and exciting destination in mind either!”
Austin and his team at 2X have added more than $255,000,000 in revenue to their clients' businesses, and this is one of the first questions, or series of questions, that they ask once they start working together. It's similar to my process too.
One of the things I teach is that YOU are in charge of what you want your business to look like. No one else.
YOU get to decide if you want to hit $1M per month in revenue (extremely hard, but not impossible), or if you just want a side business that's going to provide you with an extra $1,000 or so every month for extra spending money.
YOU get to decide if you want to hire a massive team, open multiple locations, try and take your company public...or work with a few freelancers, outsource the work you don't really enjoy doing, and keep your operation super small.
For myself, I've optimized for things like reading books and working out, and having a good time with my friends and family. My "number" is about $30,000 per month, but I don't NEED to make that amount of money before I consider myself a success. Not even close.
So you really do have to ask yourself...
What am I really trying to build here?
What do I want to do every day?
What do I NOT want to do every day? Or EVER?
Who do I want to work with or surround myself with?
What kind of a lifestyle do I truly want???
Core Lesson: Whatever your answers to those question are...they're valid. They're valid because they're YOURS, and nobody can tell you how to operate your business except you. I can help you ACHIEVE that vision, I can help GUIDE you, but I'll never try to discourage you from building the business of your dreams.
