How to Level Up as a Content Creator

📚 Hey, good morning! Time to win.

I’m on Level 6 right now.

I just made up the levels right now, but as far as I can tell:

Level 0 = Just thinking about building a personal brand

Level 1 = Actively posting on social media, but no traction yet

Level 2 = Made your first dollar online, but still figuring things out

Level 3 = Yup, still lost.

Level 4 = You’re making a few hundred dollars a month, and you realize that this internet stuff is for real

Level 5 = You cracked $1,000/month, you’re building up a good-sized audience on several platforms, and you’re looking to scale (this is where most people decide to work with me)

Level 6 = You’ve made the leap to Full-Time Self-Employment, all your bills are paid with internet money, tens of thousands - or hundreds of thousands - of people on the internet know your name and what you do.

Level 7 -= Where I’m going next.

See, Level 7 is interesting, and it’s a LOT more time-consuming than Level 6.

Level 7 requires SYSTEMS that you could probably live without on the previous levels. Honestly, on the lower levels you’re still experimenting, finding your way, building your own idiosyncratic systems from the ground up.

Good times! Uncertain, volatile times, but fun for the right entrepreneurial mindset.

I tell you all this because for me to get to the next level, I need to upgrade my SYSTEMS, especially my systems for content creation.

Because posting on social media can get you a ton of leads/clients/customers/etc. but posting on social media is not “entrepreneurship.”

You need to make MONEY to be called an entrepreneur.

Content helps, but as one of my mentors, JK Molina says, “Likes ain’t cash.”

It was today actually when I realized that there is NO WAY that I can achieve my June goals without overhauling my systems, and working out a system for batch-creating content more effectively.

That’s one of the major differences between Amateur and Professional, and the sooner you start focusing on batching content (outlining all at once, then scripting all at once, then recording all at once, then editing all at once, etc.), the sooner you can make it to Level 7.

When I get there, I’ll reach down and hold my hand out so you can grab on. Then I’ll pull you up.

I meant what I said above! Batching is KEY! There’s almost literally no way that I could get everything done this month without it, and so I have to be even more intentional about it, starting tomorrow.

Especially with YouTube videos, since those take so much production time and energy to create! It’s a huge time commitment (even though I love it) and so being as efficient as possible is the ONLY way I can get everything done.

Today was good though! Got a LOT done on the backend, published some good work too - I’m pleased with the effort I put in today.

But hey, it’s 4:11AM here right now and I’m going to bed!
