There’s an excellent book that I’ve been recommending a lot recently, and it’s called The Anthology of Balaji, by Eric Jorgenson.
It’s basically a collection of the wisdom and insights of tech founder (and genius) Balaji Srinivasan, and in the book, Balaji says this:
“Own a media corporation or be owned by one.”
I’ve been thinking about that a lot.
As creators (and especially those of us who are building our own email lists!), we own the distribution channels, or at least we have greater control than someone who has no effective way of getting their message across/out.
We can broadcast our thoughts and opinions, offer our services, help others, entertain people, inspire people…
We can do all these things…because we are media companies, essentially.
Compare this to the majority of people who are broadcasted to - told what to think and what to pay attention to. To what’s important for them to focus on.
Instead of taking their own media production into their own hands and building the kind of world they want to live in.
Maybe that’s a little grandiose. My work isn’t exactly curing cancer or anything, I’m just trying to inspire you to read books, build muscle, make money, and help others.
But I still think too many people are owned by media corporations, and not enough are taking ownership themselves.

Another beautiful day outside, but I spent most of my day inside, working! I don’t mind, though. Just a few bigger projects coming up, like my book breakdown of The Anthology of Balaji, my podcast with the author, etc.
