Pulling the "Author" Lever for Extra Income This Month

đź“š Hey, good morning! Time to win.
I bought too many books and courses and ran into a little cash flow problem.
I’m not going to starve or anything, but…I need money for more books and courses, so I’m going to run a little experiment.
It’s fairly simple, and it almost feels amateurish that I haven’t been going harder on this.
One of the 11 income streams in my business is Instagram, specifically book marketing services for authors.
I don’t charge much for this, and I NEVER promote books that I don’t believe in, but lately I’ve also been slacking on going after new business.
I could be messaging so many new authors, I could be asking my network for referrals, I could be scoping out new leads…
I could be doing so many things to drum up new business, except…I haven’t been doing it!
Getting my Skool community off the ground has been a priority, plus keeping up with my reading, my content publishing schedule, etc.
I could be earning so much more money in my business if I just did, say, 1 promotion per week, as opposed to the 1 or 2 promotions every 3 weeks or so that I’ve been doing up until now.
Hence, my new experiment.
For the rest of March, I will be messaging 10 new authors a day, every single day, until my promotions calendar is filled up to the end of May.
With 24 days left in March, that means I’ll be contacting 240 new authors about marketing their book on my Instagram.
Is that a lot? It’s probably a lot. It seems like a lot.
Anyway, I expect to get at least a few “yeses” but almost certainly several “no’s” and many of my messages and emails will be ignored. That’s where my follow up strategy comes into play, but that’s a story for another time.
I’ll keep you updated as the experiment continues, but I will say that having several different income streams in your business allows you to make earning extra income into a simple math problem.
You basically decide how much you want to earn each month, then work backwards using the numbers of customers you’ll need, the price points of different offerings, etc.
If you want to earn $5k as a creator, it then simply becomes:
-$500/month publishing on Medium
-$500/month from YouTube AdSense
-$2,000/month from Coaching
-$1,000/month from Memberships
-$1,000/month from Affiliates
Or any number of different configurations. It’s not EASY (despite what “they” will tell you), but it is SIMPLE.
I can also teach you how to find more money in your business (and time in your life), but having multiple streams of income means that you’re not reliant on one particular way of making money to pay all your book-buying bills!
As always, at the bottom of this email I’ll lay out everything I did today to move closer to my Ultimate Vision. This is to keep me accountable and to show you that I’m working as hard as I’m encouraging you to work…

Decent day of work put in! I didn’t get the BEST sleep, and there were a few setbacks today that were kind of frustrating, but I think that’s just called “being alive on this planet.”
Tomorrow, I’m going heavy into new author projects, obviously, wrapping up some current campaigns, managing my Skool community (I’ve been messaging with members there but haven’t posted in a day or so), and doing a few things like that.
If I get to bed NOW, it’ll be another pretty damn good day.
So until next time…happy reading!
All the best,
Matt Karamazov
