From 6 to 7 Figures, by Austin Netzley is the “Book of the Month” inside Creator Launch academy (Amazon | My Book Notes), and I’ve been working on getting over my resistance to some advice I know I need to take. It’s just one line, where Austin says:

“Simple and strategic is the key to seven figures.”

For someone like myself, who always has to battle their tendency toward complexity, this hasn’t been easy to implement.

Maybe you’re dealing with this too:

You want to start a YouTube channel, and you also want to write regular articles on Medium. You have to keep up with posting on Instagram and LinkedIn, and of course everyone’s talking about the algo changes on Twitter, so maybe you have to think about getting back on there too, eh? And what about a podcast? You could probably start a podcast, right? And partnerships! Oh my god, you’ve heard such great things about growing with partnerships, so maybe you should…

Stop.

Just stop.

Enough.

Consolidate your creative energies, pick just a few things to be excellent at (ideally just one), and then go all-in. Dominate one platform, get to $5K per month, build some momentum, then expand from there.

I’m at the point where I can afford to hire help, but if you’re just starting out, don’t dilute your energy by trying to succeed on multiple platforms at once, with several different revenue streams. It’s a trap. A big, shiny, attractive trap. Don’t do it.

Focus on one thing at a time. Win your next hour. Simplify. Concentrate. Dominate.

Core Lesson: Simple and strategic is the key to seven figures. I mean damn, it’s even the key to four figures! Pick a few things to do really well, commit to excellent (and constant improvement), then do so much volume that it would be UNREASONABLE for you NOT to be successful.
