Before sitting down to work, I like to remind myself that somebody out there has my money. I have what they want in my possession, and they have what I want in theirs, and now it’s time to make the trade.
The legendary Zig Ziglar used to say something similar to himself when he was first starting out, selling cookware door-to-door.
Not a bad idea, by the way.
Many people don’t know this, but I had hundreds (maybe even thousands) of hours of knocking on doors, collecting money for various charities when I was a kid.
Cancer Society, Parkinson’s, ALS - that type of stuff. Taught me a lot, and indirectly, it’s probably why I’m so comfortable with people (and with rejection) today.
Anyway, so Zig.
He’d basically say to himself that he’s got their cookware in his car, and they’ve got his money in their pockets, and he’s just there to make the exchange.
Thinking this way makes you much more effective as a salesperson/business owner. You “assume the close.”
You don’t even imagine the possibility of hearing the word no.
Because it’s a foregone conclusion. THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY!

Today was fantastic, except I didn’t really stop to realize it until just now, when I’m going to bed. I’m glad I don’t live my whole life like that, not noticing…
Anyway, got lots done today, quite a bit of reading, some excellent progress on the Balaji breakdown, my next YouTube videos, etc. Things are good!
Tomorrow will be all about finishing that book breakdown, publishing my other newsletter, The Reading Life, as well as getting a handle on some platform-update stuff. I MAY not get a YouTube video up tomorrow too, but I’m not too broken up about it, as the book breakdown is higher priority.
But hey, it’s 3:22AM here right now and I’m going to bed!
